Disc Golf is played much like traditional golf, with shots thrown from a desingated 'tee' area, toward distant baskets (holes) numbered 1 to 9, or 1 to 18. Instead of golf clubs, you use golf discs called Driver, Midrange & Putter that are usually a flatter shape than recreational discs, and of a harder plastic.
As you progress toward the basket, you play your next shot from where the previously thrown disc landed, or take a 1-stroke penalty if you have to lay-out. The scoring system is the same as regular golf; each disc golf hole has a pre-determined number of throws to get into the basket to achieve a Par (3 Par, 4 Par, etc). Like regular golf, the lowest score wins, and the score-titles are the same (Ace = Hole in one; Birdie = 1 under par; Par = Even; Eagle = 1 over par; Double Eagle = 2 over par).
The disc golf course can be a designed public course, or one you set up yourself (see our Permanent and Portable baskets).
